For those of you that don't know us.... my husband John and I met June 17, 2002 in a yahoo chat room. Neither one of us had ever been there before and we weren't really looking for anything more than friendship. We talked on the computer for quite a while that night and decided to swap phone numbers. I was nervous about giving mine so he gave me his and said that I could call him when I was ready. We talked for a bit that night and the next night turned into a 9 hour phone conversation. We met in person the next night and fell in love. We ended up marrying September 6, 2002 (yes, the same year).
Fast-forwarding 2 years ~ John started showing signs of early Multiple Sclerosis. It started with some memory loss. Mostly, he would have bouts of forgetting his name, my name, our address.... things like that. He would also stumble over nothing. I was getting worried and started researching ALOT on the Internet. Everything was pointing to MS, so I started taking notes and really paying attention to what was going on. Things progressively got worse and a couple years later, things really got bad. Those mild little signs turned into a raging river. John would have full body tremors and spasms. Also, his vision got blurry, bad stuttering when he would get worked up and alot of pain. We were getting ready to go somewhere and I heard him collapse on the floor. I had to pick him up and get him to a chair because he lost all strength in his legs. I had had enough and told him that if he wasn't going to go to the doctor, I was done! After arguing over it, he went and had an MRI done and went thru 2 failed Spinal Taps before they could get fluid to be tested. Diagnosis: Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis.
We started treatments and prescriptions upon prescriptions to manage this disease. On top of all of that, now his MS is Advanced. Just within that last month or so, he was now found to have Severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea. So he is now on oxygen when he sleeps.
So that brings us to tonight.... he was supposed to go in for another sleep study to complete the second round of this test. Tonight he was to try a couple different masks for the BiPAP machine to see which one worked best for him and he went in to a Panic Attack because he felt like he was suffocating. Keep in mind, after all this time not breathing right, his lungs were in shock. Soooooo...... we are going to call tomorrow and reschedule this wonderful thing.
Now that anyone that was actually reading this is probably bored out of their mind... I will update as often as possible to keep everyone up to date on this.
